TEAM

A team comprises a group of people or other animals linked

in a common purpose. Human teams are especially

appropriate for conducting tasks that are high in complexity

and have many interdependent sub-tasks.

A group does not necessarily constitute a team. Teams

normally have members with complementary skills and

generate synergy through a coordinated effort which allows

each member to maximize their strengths and minimize

their weaknesses. Naresh Jain (2009) claims:

Team members need to learn how to help one another, help

other team members realize their true potential, and create

an environment that allows everyone to go beyond his or her

limitations. Teams can be broken down into from a huge team

or one big group of people, even if these smaller secondary

teams are temporary.

A team becomes more than just a collection of people when

a strong sense of mutual commitment creates synergy, thus

generating performance greater than the sum of the

performance of its individual members.

OUR MISSION

The mission of SEMM Foundation and Jazz 98.5 FM

is to keep the art of jazz music alive through education, promotion and support of our students, community, musicians, venues, listeners and supporters.

We choose to do this because ...

At Jazz 98.5 FM, we understand and respect that people are

often more inclined to donate to causes such as helping to

cure diseases, famine or other maladies or calamities.

At Jazz 98.5 FM, we realize that we're not curing some life

threatening or debilitating disease but, we are helping to cure

a form of ignorance as it relates to the arts and specifically, the

art of jazz music. We help introduce the music and provide

education and awareness to develop our student's musical

ability and appreciation. We're doing our part in keeping the

pipeline full of future jazz musicians and above all, keeping

jazz alive and on the radio in Central Ohio.

Please give so we can continue to provide more music

education opportunities to children as well as help people to

discover and appreciate the art of America's contribution to

the arts, Jazz!
